I will STAND like a guard to watch and place myself at the tower.
I will WAIT to see what the Lord will say to me.
– Habakkuk 2:1

What’s up with the castles?

Only one life 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last. - C. T. Studd

For generations, castles provided sanctuary and strong defense for entire communities. No castle was complete without a tower from which to keep watch, and storerooms to provide for its residents in the event of a hard winter or siege. They housed armories, wells and gardens, schoolrooms and stables, and were hubs of life for the people living both inside their walls and in the surrounding countryside.

Castles are magnificent monuments to kings and families, yet around the world, hundreds of them lie in varying stages of beautiful ruin, a romantic reminder of a Biblical truth: that the things of this earth will all pass away, but the word of God is eternal. The purpose of the Stand and Wait site is to help us all maintain an eternity mindset, to stay focused on Jesus (the Word) as the things of this earth begin to crumble around us, so we can STAND firm to the end, and WAIT for Christ’s return and be found faithful.

Another famous line of poetry we like to quote is from missionary C. T. Studd: “Only one life ’twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.” When Christ comes, we want Him to find us not only faithful, but productively busy with the tasks He left for us. In today’s fast-paced, me-centered culture, it’s too easy to get caught up in the cares of this world and let days and weeks slip by without having any lasting impact – Kingdom impact. Stand and Wait is being developed as an online and real-world resource to help you mature as a believer to the point that you are ready to cultivate your own personal ministry, and to encourage you to do something every day to make investments in your life, and the lives of the people around you that will last forever.
